Your EDM’s 40 Best Artists to Watch in 2022

Your EDM’s 40 Best Artists to Watch in 2022

So here we are again – the end of another year. While 2020 presented its own obvious challenges, 2021 (overall) fared much better for artists with the return of festivals and live events. But even that came with its own caveats with vaccine and testing requirements, and now omicron is bumping up caseloads around the world. COVID might be something we’ll have to deal with for the rest of our lives. Fortunately, we have music to fill our lives with joy and there are plenty of names to look out for as you enter the new year.

We are pleased to present our annual Your EDM’s Top 40 Artists To Watch list for 2022, featuring 40 new names, some you may have heard of, some you may not. In particular, this year we have a few artists with less than 100 monthly listeners on Spotify (at time of publication): DRFT (21) Sejo (28) and tears from me (67). On the big other side we have ACRAZE with 21 million listeners, thanks to his breakthrough his “Do It, To It.” Normally we wouldn’t record someone with that many active listeners, but since it was his first breakout hit, we’ll have to see what else he has to offer next year.

Another point of pride on this year’s list is its diversity, with 37.5% of the names being women and 25% being people of color. Artists love Tsu Nami, SENZA, and HoneyLuv do double duty to prove that POC women not only deserve a seat at the table, but in some cases do much more than their male counterparts.

Our artist this year is Justin Hawkes, who was the most vocal proponent of drum & bass in America for the past year. Justin Hawkes, formerly known as Flite, has been a driving force in pushing the genre in the US and has the track record, both discography and shows, to showcase it.

As we do every year, we’ve handpicked our 40 artists who we think will have a great year in 2022, not only in their own personal careers, but also in the electronic music scene as a whole. As a reminder, we do our best not to repeat names year after year to put new artists in the spotlight. So if you don’t see the name of an artist you think has had a great year and is destined for more, it’s more than likely that we’ve featured them in the last six years.
