Outgoing Brian Williams gets praise from colleagues for ‘telling the news’ despite fabrications

Brian Williams, a longtime NBC player, announced on Tuesday that he will leave the network in December, when his current contract expires. Williams has been with NBC for 28 years.

What is attracting interest, especially among conservatives and proponents of impartial media, is the credit Williams gets for all his years on the air.

If you remember, it wasn’t long ago that Williams was moved from the big time on NBC to the junior leagues at MSNBC for inventing fake news.

Lovefest at NBC

Williams, of course, praised his network colleagues: “Good friends abounded at NBC. I was lucky enough to have everyone I worked with make me better at my job. I’ve had the best colleagues you can imagine. big bosses too.”

And they in turn praised him. NBC Senior Political Analyst Ashley Parker said, “There’s no one better than Brian Williams.”

The accolades continued with NBC and MSNBC News political analyst Philip Rucker praising Williams for his “accuracy, compassion and bias for truth and accountability.”

RussiaGate’s obsessive Rachel Maddow also joined in.

Brian Williams’ fake news

Brian Williams’ colleagues may only have his recent body of work to draw from, and may have been in college or even high school when another side of Brian Williams was presented.

In 2003, Williams was given a six-month ban from NBC after he reported being aboard a helicopter engaging in rocket fire in Iraq. That was fake news. Williams was actually in a separate helicopter that could have been behind the hit helicopters for up to an hour.

The tall tales don’t stop there. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated much of New Orleans. Williams went into the danger zone, but it may not have been as dangerous as he wanted everyone to think.

Williams claimed that while he was reporting from New Orleans, dead bodies floated past him as he stood outside his hotel in the French Quarter. Unfortunately for Williams, Dr. Brobson Lutz, a former city health director, to man an ambulance truck a block from his home in the French Quarter. He said, ‘We’ve never been wet. It has never been wet.”

Falsifying ‘impartial’ reporting

There seems to be no end to the praise and fake awards that the media will bestow upon itself.

Chris Wallace of Fox News Channel recently won an “award” for “unbiased journalism” from… The Panetta Institute for Public Policy.

Panetta, that name rings a bell. It should be, Leon Panetta was Bill Clinton’s chief of staff and Barack Obama’s CIA director and secretary of defense. non judgmental?

And while you’ll occasionally see glimpses of both sides of a Wallace political story, he made it pretty clear that he wasn’t a fan of former President Donald Trump.

In fact, Wallace could barely contain himself as he spoke of former First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech at the 2020 Democratic convention, where he described her as Donald Trump “skinned, sliced and diced”.

He sniffed and puffed equally at Joe Biden’s inaugural address, describing it this way: “I thought this was the best inaugural address I’ve ever heard.”

Brian Williams said he is unclear about what he will do next. No word on whether he will write a book to remember his “exploits” in journalism.
