Lil Yachty pays tribute to XXXTentacion.

On the third anniversary of his death on Friday (June 18), Lil Boat took to Instagram to share a series of text messages between him and his late friend.

In one text, Yachty XXX asks for the lyrics to his song “Valentine.” When XXX asks if he likes the song, Yachty replies, “Fu**ing love it.”

Yachty tells XXX that he wants him to remix one of his songs before proposing a new collaboration. “I’ll do it, and we can do something new,” XXX says.

At one point they declare their love for each other. “I love you ni**a U a good ni**a,” writes XXX, to which Yachty replies, “I love you bro, his gang.”

Along with the lyrics, Yachty reflected on their sincere friendship. ‘With my mother, we do nothing but exchange love. Pure positivity. You are a god my dear Mr @xxxtentacion,” said Yachty, who held a candlelight vigil for his friend in Atlanta after his death.

In a 2018 interview with Rap-Up, Yachty opened up about the tragic loss as she vowed to continue the legacy of XXX.

“It has made me want to be a better person in life,” he said. “I really just want to pick up where he left off. He was trying to do so many positive things for the community. He wanted to have a helping hand everywhere. I want to kind of take that legacy and do something with it.”

Born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, XXXTentacion was shot and killed outside a Florida motorcycle dealership on June 18, 2018. He was 20. His mother, Jahseh Onfroy, also shared a video in memory of her son.
