Lil Baby sues a jeweler for selling him a fake watch.
On Instagram, the “On Me” rapper showed off his new Patek Philippe Nautilus 40th Anniversary watch, which he bought from famed jeweler Rafaello and Co. bought for $400,000.
However, the FakeWatchBuster Instagram account informed him that he had been sold a fake and noted the differences between a genuine Patek Philippe Nautilus 40th anniversary timepiece and the one owned by Lil Baby. “He was scammed and most likely he paid 400k for it. He should take his money back and hurry up who sold that fugazi,” the account wrote.
After learning that he had been scammed, Baby knocked Rafaello down for selling him a fake. “Now @rafaelloandco you all know better than ME of all people to sell a FAKE or anything that could be called a FAKE!” He wrote. “I’m in my name as you should! There is no such thing as a mistake when it comes to money ️!! Don’t Fuccin Play Wit me Because when I’m on it, I’m on it.’
Rafaello later apologized, saying he was unaware that the watch was a counterfeit. As a saving grace, he paid Baby back the $400,000 and also gave him four diamond rings.
“I personally want to apologize to Lil Baby for not trying my best to sell him the Patek watch,” he wrote on Instagram Stories. “I should have inspected the watch after I bought it from the dealer. I take full responsibility for not doing my job properly. Personally, I would NEVER knowingly sell him or anyone anything that is not 100% authentic.”
Rafaello plans to investigate how he was sold a fake watch in the first place. “I’ve known Lil Baby for a while and there’s nothing fake about him – especially his jewelry and watches,” added the jeweler, who has been in the business for over 20 years. “I want to personally apologize to Lil Baby for what happened.”
He continued: “Basically. We are in our name just like him that’s why we got 4 rings for FREE and his money back because we didn’t do our homework on the watch and we take full responsibility for that. But let me be clear that it was not intentional.”
