Bop Shop: songs from Mitski, Blackstarkids, Eartheater and more

In case you haven’t heard, Remi Wolf is the time. Funk, soul and pop meld with some of the most unhinged lyrics (“Orgy at Five Guys with five guys / That’s 10 guys and holy Christ / I’ve never seen more nuts in my life,” she sings in “Quiet on Set” ), the LA artist is exceptionally herself. “Front Tooth”, which appears on her debut album Juno, on Oct. 15, finds herself taking on a more vulnerable voice than her typically boastful bops. “It doesn’t feel like it should,” she mumbles, before comparing her relationship to “a fight with Conor McGregor / Kicking my front tooth out.” Of course, there’s also a crunchy guitar solo, some dolphin sounds, and a truly romantic moment when she calls her lover “a garden gnome.” After all, it’s Remi Wolf. —Carson Mlnarik
