Before Selena Gomez scored her first-ever No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Lose You to Love Me” this week (dated Nov. 9), she wasn’t the only major pop star who hadn’t reached this career milestone yet — even after appearing multiple times on the chart for a decade.
Nicki Minaj is a champion in her own league after becoming the first woman to gain more than 100 entries on the Hot 100 last year and two solo smash hits in the top five: “Anaconda” at No. 2 and “Super Bass” at No. 3. But Minaj has yet to reign at No. 1.
Other seasoned artists and bands like J. Cole, Future, Twenty One Pilots, Imagine Dragons and Florida Georgia Line and a newer generation of the biggest stars — Khalid, DaBaby and BTS — have scored No. 1 (sometimes multiple times) on the Billboard 200 albums chart, but they have yet to be crowned on the Hot 100.
