Joe Biden has nominated leftist activist Nancy Gbana Abudu, SPLC’s deputy legal director, to serve on the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.
Abudu has claimed that requiring proof of citizenship to vote is “voter suppression”.
The Daily Wire revealed some of Abudu’s shocking views in a 2011 interview, in which she said she focused on “voting rights” during her work at the ACLU. She argued that requiring photo ID or proof of citizenship is an indication of ‘voter suppression’.
“Clearly, we do a lot when it comes to voter suppression, including five priority areas: photo ID, proof of citizenship, restrictions we see when it comes to registration… early voting and absentee voting and the restrictions we see see when it comes to criminal convictions. We also do a lot with student voting’, says Abudu.

Abudu’s views on the matter have not changed, as she claimed as late as August that voter identity laws are “racist”.
Last year she wrote in a post for the Southern Poverty Law Center advocating for felons to get ballot papers. She said: “If you add in laws that prohibit people with criminal convictions from voting, it’s practically the same system as during slavery: black people who have lost their freedom and cannot vote.”
“And without access to the ballot box, a victim of the system cannot choose the officials who pull the handles to hire the police, determine what cases to prosecute and what sentences to impose.”
According to the Daily Wire, “Biden has put forward 75 jurors in 2021. The memo states that his nominees ‘reflect the diversity’ Biden promises[d]’ in courts and that Abudu would be ‘the first African-American female judge to ever sit on the Eleventh Circuit.’
