Alicia Keys Performs ‘Show Me Love,’ Discusses Her ‘Journey’ on ‘Kimmel’

Jimmy Kimmel is beaming Live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center this week, and he had a towering figure from the New York music scene joining him for Monday’s show, Alicia Keys.

The “Empire State of Mind” singer and her band performed “Show Me Love,” a smooth song she cut and released earlier this year with Miguel. Watch below.

Keys also sat for a chat with her host about her new autobiography, More Myself. “I’m calling it, a journey,” she said. “Because a memoir sounded like I was going to die tomorrow. It’s heavy, right.”

The book traces her own person journey, yes, and “becoming aware of who I am,” she explained. “We’re all on a journey, so how do you find your way to your authentic self? It’s just a question we’re all trying to answer.”

Keys also recounted the terror of hearing her own music played on the radio for the very first time (the song was “Girlfriend”) and she invited everyone in the arena to her Tidal X concert to benefit Rock the Vote. “I reserved some tickets for a few friends,” she quipped. Cue thousands of screaming, excitable fans.
