Data released Friday from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows that a record 4.4 million Americans quit their jobs in September.
“The number of stoppages rose in September to a series high of 4.4 million (+164,000)”, reports BLS. “The quit rate also rose to a run-high 3.0 percent.”
Three sectors hardest hit by Americans who have left their jobs are arts, entertainment and recreation (+56,000), other services (+47,000), and state and local government education (+30,000).
The news of the staggering number of layoffs comes as a near-record high of 10.4 million jobs remain available.
Fox News reports that the phenomenon has been dubbed the “Great Layoff” as they blame the shift on workers seeking higher wages and a pandemic affecting many to seek jobs that allow working from home.

Americans have quit their jobs en masse
While experts have suggested a number of reasons for the “big layoff,” one thing they rarely talk about is vaccine mandates.

An October survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 72 percent of unvaccinated workers threatened to quit their jobs if they were ordered to get vaccinated.
“If the unvaccinated workers surveyed heed their threats to quit, it would result in between 5 and 9% of workers leaving their jobs, depending on the regulations they face,” CNN reported at the time.

Last month, the American Trucking Association (ATA) also sent a letter to the Biden administration expressing “grave concerns” about the effect vaccine mandates would have on an already crippled supply chain.
“Our data shows that a vaccine mandate could further cripple the supply chain across the country by forcing up to 13% of drivers to leave the industry completely,” they wrote.
Some truck drivers have warned that the mandate would cause many drivers to quit, exacerbating the industry’s worst driver shortage in nearly 40 years.
I was told that the Biden private sector vax mandate does NOT include truck driver carve-out. So all of the biggest truck companies in America – who already have a huge driver shortage – will see a % of their employees leave. The supply chain crisis will get much worse – very soon.

Americans sit on the sidelines
The report of a record number of Americans who have quit their jobs comes on the heels of Fortune magazine, which reports that there are “a lot of people sitting on the sidelines” right now.
They write that the current unemployment rate of 4.6 percent praised by the Biden administration “doesn’t tell the full picture.”
BLS statistics indicate that approximately 7.4 million Americans remain unemployed, while the employment rate stands at 61.6 percent.
But Fortune writes, “Another 6 million people want a job but aren’t actively looking — and therefore aren’t counted as unemployed — and 4.4 million Americans work part-time, but want a full-time job.”

Biden, who has touted his success in job creation, has made a number of misleading statements portraying those jobs as anything but replacements for those lost during the pandemic.
His talk about job creation, according to Politifact, “obscures the reality that the U.S. economy remains about 5 million jobs below its pre-pandemic peak.”
The total number of jobs stood at 147.6 million in September, well behind the 152.5 million jobs in February 2020, when Donald Trump was in the White House.
