2022 Golden Globes: See the full list of winners

To say the Golden Globes Awards are a little different this year would be an understatement.

Historically, the show has normally kicked off the awards season with a celeb-packed ceremony broadcast live on NBC from the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. But after multiple controversies plagued the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, including an internal lack of diversity and numerous unethical business practices, NBC canceled the 2022 broadcast, leaving the Globes home without a broadcast. When the ceremony takes place tonight (Jan. 9) there will be no celebrity presenters and it will not be live streamed; the winners will be announced online, according to a tweet from the Golden Globes account Thursday.

Last year’s broadcast featured moments of commentary on the HFPA’s failures and historic victories by actors Chadwick Boseman and Andra Day and director Chloé Zhao. But despite the celebrations and even amid certain reform efforts — including adding new members to help diversify the ranks — the HFPA continues to struggle.

Either way, leading this year’s crop of nominees are some very big names. Dramatic movies like The power of the dog, King Richard, and Belfast dominated the movie categories, and Maggie Gyllenhaal scored a directorial nod for her behind-the-camera debut, The Prodigal Daughter. Alana Haim was recognized for her mesmerizing and charming acting debut in Licorice Pizza. Billie Eilish earned a nomination for her James Bond theme, “No Time to Die”, and on the TV side, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez received an acting nomination for FX’s final season. Attitude.

Looking ahead, what does an unaired Golden Globes mean for future ceremonies? That will certainly be interesting to find out. In the meantime, below is the list of 2022 winners.
