When you think of epic beards, James Harden might spring to mind, or Hagrid. Maybe Santa. If you’ve been watching The Voice, you’d probably think Cory Jackson and Zach Bridges.
On Tuesday night, the two hirsute singers were pitched against each other for part four of the Battles round.
Appropriately, both men showed their form by covering Toby Keith’s “Should’ve Been A Cowboy.”
“That was so good, you all should be a duo. I wish there was like a duo button,” Kelly Clarkson enthused afterwards.
“You looked like stars up there on stage,” John Legend added, giving the slight edge to Bridges.
“No man was better than the other. That’s why the performance was magical,” Clarkson continued. “You have different tones but it blends so well.”
When it came down to Blake Shelton’s final decision, the country pro sang the praises of Bridges and his “big baritone voice” and talked of Jackson’s “great pitch.” There’s really no winner in the “Battle of the Beards,” coach Shelton remarked. But there had to be. And he selected Bridges. By a whisker.
