Presumptive Democratic Party presidential nominee former Vice President Joe Biden has reportedly put off choosing his vice presidential nominee until the second week of August–sometime after August 10–according to reports. Biden had initially set a date of around the first of August but told reporters last week he would likely make his decision this coming week. That appears to be put off yet again.
Joe Biden alongside a rejuvenated Kamala Harris. Could this be the ticket?
Biden is taking advantage of the postponement due to the pandemic of the Democrat National Convention in Milwaukee that was originally scheduled for July 13-16 but is now set for August 17-20. Biden has said he would choose a woman to be his running mate, with many in the party urging him to choose a black woman or woman of color.
Among those thought to be top contenders are: Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA), Rep. Val Demings (D-FL), Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and former Obama national security advisor and U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice.
Whomever Biden chooses will have a better than most chance of becoming president due to illness, senility or a decision to not seek a second term by the 77-year-old Biden who would be 78 when inaugurated. Biden would be 82 at the end of a first term.

Karen Bass emerged this week as a contender. Bass has served in Congress since 2011 and is currently Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. Before that she was Speaker of the California Assembly and a community organizer. A profile of Bass published this week by the Atlantic to inoculate her on being a young communist, details her history in the 1970s of working with the Venceremos Brigades and her many trips to Castro’s Cuba.
The Trump campaign on Saturday questioned Bass’ suitability and Biden’s judgment:
Rep. Karen Bass, reportedly a top contender to run with Biden, went to Cuba to train American militants.
She was always pro-Castro & later mourned his death.
Whether Biden picks her or not, he’s written off Cuban-American voters just by considering her.https://t.co/hwqPziDVi9

Why We Love Noodles & Company’s Mac & Cheese
Customization is one of my favorite things about ordering from Noodles & Company and there is a mac & cheese option for just about everyone. Stay classic and try their delicious world-famous Wisconsin Mac & Cheese, or go for one of their awesome specialty dishes like Buffalo Mac & Cheese, with parmesan chicken, Frank’s RedHot® Buffalo Wings Sauce, parmesan cheese and green onions or their BBQ Pork Mac with tender, slow-braised pork, crispy jalapenos, and tangy barbeque sauce. Have an idea for your own personal ultimate mac & cheese flavor? Then just customize your own with any of their proteins, sauces, and add-ins.
We created a Spicy Shrimp Mac & Cheese and customized it with fried jalapenos, green onion, and a drizzle of sriracha. Totally yummy!
They even have noodles that can work with most lifestyles. Gluten-free noodles, zucchini noodles and their veggie-infused caulifloodles (we can all use more veggies) can be subbed in for any of their dishes. We love their Zucchini Truffle Mac & Cheese. Made with their famous cheese sauce, black truffle, roasted mushrooms, parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of toasted breadcrumbs, this is the perfect dish if you’re staying low-carb. But, you need to act fast, because today is the last day Zucchini Truffle Mac & Cheese will be on the menu.
For an extra punch of protein on any of your mac & cheeses, there’s plenty of options like grilled chicken, parmesan-crusted chicken, oven-roasted meatballs, naturally raised pork, marinated steak, sauteed shrimp or seasoned tofu.
Even if you’re trying to stay safe and you’re not heading out of the house much these days, there’s no reason why you can’t join in on the fun. Noodles & Company has instituted a variety of safety measures in their restaurants to keep their customers and staff safe. There’s always a quick in-store food pickup option available, but you can also choose to use their contactless curbside pickup or free delivery service offered through specific participating locations. Ordering is super easy through their website and on their app.

The Fox News audience is a very small subset of the American political landscape. This is the base of a few million people that Donald Trump has decided to base his entire campaign on and play to.
The Tucker Carlson audience isn’t big enough to win a presidential election.
Trump supporters were outnumbered in 2016, but in 2020 they are facing an even bigger, broader, and more diverse coalition that is determined to remove this president from the White House. Tucker Carlson can’t save Trump.
The popularity of anti-Trump ads, like those of The Lincoln Project, is a circumstantial display of strength that hints at the onslaught that could be awaiting Republicans on Election Day.

LAGRANGE – Sweet, refreshing Georgia watermelons are coming to a store near you in early June. The 2020 watermelon crop is expected to have the crisp, sweet flavor and high quality unique to Georgia watermelon.
While Georgia has had a relatively cool spring, consumers should still start seeing Georgia Grown watermelons in stores the first week of June. The Georgia season typically peaks around June 20.
“We expect excellent quality and even more, we are eager to have a successful growing season,” Rob Greene, Georgia Watermelon Association president and owner of Lime Creek Farms in Arabi, said in a news release.
Planting for Georgia’s watermelon crop begins in March. From planting to harvest, watermelons typically need 90 days to grow, ripen and be ready for harvest. With more than 18,000 acres of watermelon harvested on average each year, the state of Georgia ranks in the Top 4 in the Unites States for production after Texas, Florida and California.
Georgia watermelons are expected to hit stores by Wednesday. Consumers can pick up watermelon in local stores and markets throughout the Southeast. The 2020 GWA Queen Ambassador, Lindsey Westberry, would normally be in stores this summer, but due to COVID-19 restrictions she is helping consumers through serving in other ways in her local community.
Just before Memorial Day, Westberry joined in with members of the National Guard at Second Harvest of South Georgia to pack food boxes for the local community in Valdosta. SHSG provides more than 3 million meals annually to those with food insecurity.
“Having the opportunity to give back to my community alongside many of our service men and women was truly a blessing,” she said. “I believe in living a life of use to others, and I look forward to continuing to bring smiles to people’s faces through watermelon.”
On social media, Westberry will put together many recipes, safety and how-to tutorials so consumers can enjoy their local watermelon.
“It’s more important now than ever to support your local economy – and we do that from purchasing in season produce like watermelon when it comes in stores,” Samantha Kilgore, the GWA executive director, said. “Let watermelon help cool you off this summer, and rest assured that your local growers do everything they can to provide a safe, sweet, and satisfying product.”
The Georgia Watermelon Association is the trade organization for members of the Georgia watermelon industry. The GWA mission is to promote the industry from production to consumption. For more information, visit www.georgiawatermelonassociation.org.

Records that had been in place for over 100 years fell on Tuesday in Napa, California, with highs topping just shy of 100 degrees. In nearby San Francisco, the typical “May Gray” — the marine layer known by locals — was nowhere to be found. Record highs 90 and 89 degrees were observed on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
“Excessive heat warnings are in place for much of the Southwest into the valleys in California where highs will soar well past 100 degrees,” CNN meteorologist Dave Hennen said.
Over 20 million people are under either an excessive heat warning or advisory across the west.
Heat warnings and advisories include cities like Phoenix, Las Vegas, Fresno and Sacramento, with heat advisories for San Jose and much of California’s central coast.
Dozens of high temperatures records are forecast as the heat builds and spreads east over the weekend, with 90-degree temperatures surging north into the Rockies, Hennen said.
Although the southwestern US can experience excessive heat throughout the spring, the rarity of such heat in late May is worth noting.
Las Vegas is forecast to surpass 105 degrees on both Thursday and Friday. Highs above 105 degrees have not occurred in late May in nearly two decades.
Death Valley, California, the location with the dubious distinction of recording the world’s hottest temperature on record, is forecast to reach 122 degrees on Thursday. This mark would tie its hottest temperature on record for May.
One month ago, the city of Phoenix, well known for excessive summer heat, baked into the record books with a late April heatwave.
Temperatures rose above 100 degrees, about 15 degrees above seasonal norms, setting dozens of new records across the southwest. This week, the city braces for another stretch of unusually hot late May temperatures, once again 10 to 15 degrees above seasonal norms and all with three weeks to spare before summer officially arrives.
Temperatures in Phoenix climbed above 100 degrees on Tuesday for the 16th time this year.
With highs expected to surge well past 100 over the remainder of this month, 2020 will be near the top of charts as far as early season heat is concerned.
