It’s hard to believe that Lizzo and her record-breaking chart toppers would get rejected from anything, but as Glee‘s Kevin McHale revealed, the songstress once auditioned for and got cut from the short-lived competition, The Glee Project.
It all started when McHale gave a sassy, soulful performance of Lizzo’s “Good as Hell” on X Factor: Celebrity last week, which garnered a standing ovation and a ton of praise on Twitter.
The crooner replied to one fan’s tweet, claiming that the performance is “now my sexuality.” “Tonight I performed Good as Hell by @lizzo,” McHale responded. “Because it’s an incredible song and she’s an icon and it’s fucked up she auditioned for the Glee Project and didn’t make it cuz….7 weeks at #1.”

In September, Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” became longest-running Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 by a solo female rapper, tying with Iggy Azalea‘s seven-week run for “Fancy.”
